Clutter Clearing & Organization

"Clutter" ( or "clotter", which is derived from a Middle Enlish word) is defined by the Oxford dictionary as a "collection of crowded and untidy things".  Moreover, clutter has its own energy field which is unpleasant, sticky, obstructive and unclean. This disorder goes into your auric field and can create problems in your life.  Feng Shui takes this concept further and defines clutter as 1) the things you do not use, 2) the things you do not love, 3) the things that are untidy and disorganized, 4) too many things in a small space, 5) the things that are unfinished, and 6) geopathic and electromagnetic stress.  These categories include such artifacts as furniture, papers, clothing, nick-nacks, to having a "cluttered mind" and having a "toxic environment.

Because everything has energy, whether it is a live subject or an inanimate object, the presence of clutter creates energy impasses which can cause a person to procrastinate, feel tired or lethargic, congest the body with ailments of constipation, headaches, and bodily pain, to affecting one's weight, and creating unclear thinking and poor communications with others.  People who suffer from major 'clutteritis' often become ashamed of their environment and are not comfortable in asking for assistance to "clean up the mess".

If you are being adversely affected with excess clutter, you can learn how to divest yourself of this problem.  Private consultations and hands-on service is available.  You will have help clearing the clutter and organizing your space.  In addition, you will learn what areas of the Ba Gua (the Life Situations and Directions) you are impacting by clutter areas.  You life and your environment are intricately interwoven.

Feng Shui for the Nursery
The principles of Harmony and Balance are crucial for the nursery or a child's room. Excess clutter of toys and artifacts around a child, though interesting and fun, can be over stimulating. This over stimulation can lead to restless sleep, inability to fall asleep, confusion and attention disorders. A stifling room can create respiratory problems. This can result from overcrowding and lack of proper ventilation and placement of furniture.

If you do not have a separate room for toys, art supplies and special projects for your child, then designate an area in the child's room which houses these items in an orderly fashion but is away from the child's sleeping area. It can be screened off or proper cupboards with doors will shut away the items when not in use.
The placement of a child's room is best away from stairwells but not on a floor above the parents' bedroom. When a child is placed above you, they have “the upper hand” and “rule the roost”. If you have the luxury to choose from many rooms, you can select a room that is best suited to the child's enhancing gua based on compass direction. If this also coincides with the gua formation for children according to The Tibetan Buddhist Black Hat Sect, all the better. If none of this is possible, arrange the room to the best possible attainment of Harmony and Balance for Qi flow.

A child's crib or bed should be placed in the “command position” the same as your bed should be placed in the command position. The command position is the widest angle to the entrance of the room. The crib or bed should have its headboard against a solid wall for protection and grounding. It is best not to have items stored under the bed. This impedes the flow of Qi and interferes with sound sleep. The bed should be entered on either side. If there is a question of space, even a marginal space representing entry on either side, this is considered preferable.
Soft colors on the walls with appropriate pictures, the child's artwork, are enhancing. Choose the proper gua to hang artwork and family photos on. Be mindful to keep pictures from hanging directly over the child's head. Anything hanging over the head of a sleeping child creates a “baring down” energy which is not desirable.

Music also enhances the energy of the room. Soothing music may be played at bedtime, while cheerful songs or arrangements are suitable for waking periods.

A child benefits from correct placement of furniture, other artifacts, colors, proper lighting, good air circulation for its development and well-being. Try to keep the child's bed away from electrical outlets as these create negative energy from electromagnetic excess.

House Hunting
Every house has a personality.  In Feng Shui tradition, a house is appraised as having a body and a spirit all its own.  Some houses are naturally "good and beneficial" in their structure, setting and inherent energies, while others are not, with varying degrees of less desirable to horrific.  Certain house types may undermine your health as well as your pocketbook, relationship and all other life matters.  Feng SHui offers many practical ways to correct problematic areas and with corrections, there is a greater opportunity you may avoid any potentially negative interactions or situations.

The site'e energy, environmental setting, compass directions, house structure and materials is is constructed with, and the house's history will impact on you both in obvious and subtle ways.  Feng Shui theories asssess these various factors and the outcome of these various aspects taken together, will indicate a strong tendency toward certain life events and circumstances for the occupants who reside in this dwelling.

Realty Sales
Selling your property has many ingredients besides the ones your realtor prompts you with.  It's a seller's market right now, but there are ways to optimize a sale by putting Feng Shui principles into practice.

Both as a property owner or a realtor representing a property, there are factors to consider for your sale, such as clearing "dead spaces" in order to generate "beneficial energies" for prosperity, life growth and healing.  It is also important to remove "conflicting effects" such as structures, colors, rugs or artifacts which may be unsuiotable for particular areas of the house as well as effects of street alignment.

Geopathic Stress
The energy coming from the earth on which your house is built upon, strongly influences your health and life. Each landform has a particular energy. The best Feng Shui sites include good, clean air, pure water, fertile soil and mountains.

On the other hand, their are land formations which erode Beneficial Qi , such as faults in the earth, which will shift and even destroy the building or house by creating landslides and earth quakes; water courses under the site which creates an erosion of the property; natural gas emissions which build toxins in the ground; and manmade land fills which can slowly deteriorate the ground and consequently the house or building.

Geopathic stress are harmful effects created by unstable or disrupted natural electromagnetic fields which emanate from the earth. There are a variety of harmful earth rays. One is a global grid (Hartmann net) which runs in the same directions as latitude and longitude lines; another intersects diagonal lines which run northeast/southwest (Curry grid). Harmful effects occur at the intersection point on these grids. Unto themselves, these rays are not bad, but they are harmful to humans. Other animals, such as cats, bees, termites, ants, wasps, bacteria, viruses, parasites, and even certain plants, thrive on these rays.

In Europe, extensive research is being conducted. Findings include that exposure to these rays for extended periods of time can weaken our immune system, increase the risk of cancer, produce infertility in women, sterility in men, and are responsible for a number of chronic illnesses.

People who are sensitive to earth rays naturally move away from geopathically stressed areas in their sleep. Children may be found huddled up in a corner of their bed in an attempt to avoid the earth rays. If this is happening to your child, you might want to explore your property for geopathic stress.

Experts can be found to help you with this problem. A device which claims to reduce and/or eliminate earth rays is called Raditech. This is obtainable from Dulwich Health Society, 130 Gypsy Hill, London, England, E19 1PL, England.

Electromagnetic Stress
Artificial electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are generated by electrical equipment made by mankind. We and our planet are becoming drenched in a pollution of electromagnetic emissions generated by cell phone, wireless phones, microwaves, televisions, computers, cable transmission, satellite transmissions, radar, radio waves, excessive electrical wiring, power lines, office and domestic equipment etc.

Alternating electric current flows through a wire and creates a magnetic field around it. When our bodies are exposed to artificial or distorted natural EMFs which penetrate and alter our cellular processes, we are experiencing electromagnetic stress and we can become ill. This stress impairs the immune system, breaks down the metabolism and creates poor health. A person with a delicate constitution can not process heavy input of electromagnetic stress. Chronic exposure to electrical cables and equipment may lead to depression, debilitating physical side effects, life-threatening illnesses such as childhood leukemia.

Again, an expert may be needed to assess your home or work place. However, there are some simple things you can do to reduce the negative effects of electromagnetic stress.

Ways to Reduce the Negative Effects of Electromagnetic Stress

  • Unplug appliances when not in use
  • Install a device to cut off current when the circuits are not in use
  • Check that a circuit box is not where you sleep or spend large amounts of time
  • Don't sleep near an air conditioning unit, refrigerator or electric water heater

  • Keep your bed 4' away from any metal water-filled radiator
  • Don't use an electrical clock or clock radio by your bed
